As you could probably tell if you watched Leo’s Live last night, we got quite emotional about the end of the campaign. There was also a fair amount of champagne consumed, so we weren’t in much of a state to post a coherent update afterwards. We’d held off on the update during Leo’s Live because posting one broke the previous night’s Live, and it was important to be with you to the end. Anyway, this update is to say thank you once more for all your incredible faith and support, and to bring everyone up to speed with what happened at the end.
Firstly, stretch goals.
You charged past the $2 million stretch goal for the Good Place Inn, and took down the $2.1 million for the 3 inn staff with 30 minutes still to go. So, because why not, we had a quick brainstorm and came up with one final, final stretch goal at $2,150k – the French king John II the Good. While barely remembering to breathe in his excitement, Leo kept up a frantic commentary during the final half hour of our month-long campaign, finally beating this last goal with only 2 minutes to spare. What a finale!
Secondly, what should you expect next in the coming weeks and months? Several things.
We will keep in touch. I’ll be sending you a minimum of one update per week, in a continuation of the “What’s up Wednesday?” tradition that I started as the Voice of Olympus on Mythic Battles: Pantheon. This update will keep you informed about production status, let you join in the beta testing of the rules, and show you whatever videos, art, sculpts, painting guides, heraldry, tactics, and whatever else we think you’ll enjoy. I’ll also be keeping up with the comments section, answering questions and so on.
You have a little time to think. The pledge manager will open in January, and we’ll have more details on that closer to the time. If you are unfamiliar with the Kickstarter process, the pledge manager is where you tell us exactly what you want your pledged money to be spent on, whether you want to add anything else, and where we should send it all when it’s ready.
Finally, for those of you who’ve been heavily involved in the comments, I know exactly what you mean when you talk about withdrawal. It’s very strange knowing that this stage is over. But fear not. The Good place is still here.
